" I think this decision was a necessary step in the equal rights movement; in fact this case probably should have followed relatively closer to Shelley v. Kramer than it did. If blacks were allowed to live in suburban areas they shouldn't have to drive out of there way to school. You wouldn't give a man a steak but no knife or fork to eat it with. If you allow one you must allow the other and that's what the Supreme Court had to have been thinking when they legalized this essential decision.
3 - The Montgomery Bus Boycott.
When Rosa Parks decided to sit in the front of the bus after her hard day at work, she created a large protest in the south, and all over America. The decision to boycott the transit system ended after a year and gave the equal rights activist a huge victory in a struggling society. The stubborn act showed the rest of the country that blacks were not holding back when they demanded equal rights. Rosa Parks" decision to go against the flow gave rise to many activists such as Martin Luther King. Should we dare say that without Mrs. Parks" action, Dr. King may not have gotten as involved with equal rights?.
The appeal of Rock n Roll to all ethnicities had a large impact on all racial relations. You had black men doing country music and white men doing gospel. Fats Domino was appealing to a majority of white kids and Buddy Holly was appealing to a majority of black kids. When the country saw Sam Phillips producing and developing young black artist it made heads turn. In the same way a Church doesn't discriminate on who is allowed to be apart of their congregation, Rock and Roll was universal and for all who wanted to enjoy it. In this, racial relations were eased.

Rock has always been about social and cultural conflict ever since its birth in the boogie blues of artists such as John Lee Hooker. The social alienation and angst of the black experience permeated the predominantly white middle class rock 'n' roll.
