Telling the truth is not on the media's agenda

This is also shown in "Add Sex and Stir" when Frontline did a re-enactment of a story emphasising the point that Alison was dropped from the team because she was not a lesbian. This re-enactment is used to get the publics attention and make the story look more exiting and controversial, therefore manipulating the truth in order to manipulate the public. This shows how important vision is to the media as without vision the media does not get the ratings it wants, therefore it displeases its sponsors and the higher powers that control it. .
"Add Sex and Stir" and "Yugoslavia and Afghanistan" show that the media is willing to manipulate the truth for their own benefit and gain, therefore showing that truth is not on the media's agenda. "You take any story, add sex and stir", says Marty from Frontline. This quote shows the attitude the media has toward truth. It does not matter what the real story is, because it is easily changed by the media to suite the own needs. This aspect of truth is shown in "Add Sex and Stir" when Brooke changes the wording of a question she has asked Alison from "how many of the team members had it in for you?" to "how many of the girls are gay?" This is manipulation of the truth for the media's own benefit as the story has been changes to something exiting that the public will watch and therefore the show will get higher ratings. It also shows that the media does not care about the truth, but only cares about the ratings they will get. "You report half the story and beat up the rest" says Teresa, the sports coach which is true. This is also shown when they do the re-enactment. It is not necessarily true, but the re-enactment will attract a wider audience and therefore boost the shows ratings. The media is also willing to manipulate the truth for the benefit of their sponsors, which is also for their own benefit as the sponsors give them money, so that they can control the truth.
