Reflection of Society

When he found out the bacteria in the water he immediately wanted to fix the springs since that is his job. He did not even consider the consequences this will have like the big budget it will take up and the affect it will have on the society's economy. Mayor Peter on the other hand is trained to think of saving money and always making more revenue. He thinks Dr. Stockmann's idea is completely stupid and it will cost too much. Now with both of them having opposite thoughts, it is only natural that there will be conflict in between. Emotions were fuming both thought that he was right and the other was wrong. Instead of solving the problem in a peaceful manner both clashed together in the fight to win the heart of the public. Unfortunately the fight was never fair to begin with, instead of each person giving their side and letting the public decide, it was a landslide victory for the rich and powerful mayor. It is really ironic to think that someone who has the best of intentions for his town, one who wants to save it from devastation is always the one the public hates the most. This reflects society today, where no one will listen to a person without power until it is too late. The play ended with the people revolting against Dr. Stockmann, I predict that if the story went on the town after several years they realize that the water is polluted and Dr. Stockmann is right, however only with after it is too late. Why? Because Dr. Stockmann did not have any power. Just like it the incident in the World Trade Center, the plane that was hijacked took off from Logan airport. Months before the attack a security personnel begged authorities to fix their machines because he noticed a very poor level of security where people could easily smuggle things in. Like Dr. Stockmann he even made a television program about it, however nobody listened to him because he was just a security personnel. Well terrorist scouted the airport and noticed that it had a weak security where they could easily smuggle in weapons.
