Was His Dream Deferred?

dreamed of equal rights for all people. He wanted all African Americans to be treated equal to all white people. The question is, was his dream deferred? I believe that his dream was not deferred due to the many advancements towards equality for all people.
On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a very fitting place, and gave his famous speech called "I Have A Dream". He spoke to approximately 250,000 people on that day. That speech is one of the most famous speeches ever given. There are few people in this nation that are not familiar with it. The speech made a great impact on many people.
I believe that his dream was not deferred due to many factors. The main one being that there is no segregation in any aspects of daily life. First of all, black people and white people, now, attend the same schools. Before, there were separate schools for each race and blacks could only attend black schools. They were not allowed to attend the school of their choice. In some cases, there were no black schools and many people were uneducated due to this. There was no freedom of choice. Secondly, and one of the most famous advancements, is that there is no segregation on public transportation. Before the civil rights movement, blacks had to sit in the back of the bus, now they can sit anywhere that they choose. Also, they had to sit in the back of airplanes and they had separate cars on trains. All of this has changed and blacks and whites are no longer segregated on public transportation. Another advancement is in the work force. Today blacks and whites work side by side in all jobs, not just in agriculture. In years past, the majority of white collar jobs were held by white people. Very seldom did a black person hold a major position in the work force, other than teachers, who were only allowed to teach in black schools. Today, blacks can be lawyers, doctors, congressmen and even governors of some of the most segregated states in the nation.
