There is much debate between those who would ban guns as a danger to society and those who regard them as a necessary protection for the citizen. As a citizen of the United States of America you have many rights. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the second amendment in the Bill of Rights, and has had various interpretations through the years. It states: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Or has it? The controlling of Americans firearms has never been so out of hand. There are more gun laws now than thirty years ago. And before then, owning a gun seemed normal. There is no reason for a country to control a right that has been given to its citizens. According to the Webster's on-line dictionary, "gun-control" refers to: the regulation of the selling, owning, and use of guns. Is this what our government is doing? .
Is banning all guns the answer to our nation's crimes? The United States contains millions of guns, so many in fact, that it would probably be impossible to collect them all. Whether one approves or disapproves of them, guns seem to be a permanent part of the American scene. For an antigun activist, it can be easily pointed out that the Founding Fathers could never have foreseen the kind of guns now available, such as the AK47 or the MP5. Today's technology needs to be fought with today's laws. .
For some, guns are used as a tool, not as a weapon. In the heart of southern United States, It is not uncommon for a hunter to take the day off to enjoy the opening day of deer season. He should be able to carry a loaded firearm into the forest, so he can put food on the table and not have to worry about gun control regulations that would violate his rights. .
Some would say that a handgun is nothing more than a paperweight until someone picks it up. How many guns have killed someone without anybody holding it? None of that I know.
