Aleuts of the Aleutian Islands

How and why did people first settle in the frozen worlds?.
The earliest people, the Paleo-Aleuts, may have arrived in the Aleutian Islands from the mainland in about 2000 B.C. They might have come from Siberia, 10,000 years ago on a land bridge, or even 5,000 years ago by boats or winter ice. Nobody is absolutely sure. Aleutians most likely came from Russia or Asia. The Siberians and the natives of Alaska came to the Aleutian islands for fresh water, good boat landings, and they would be safe from other neighboring tribes.
What tools and technologies have people used to endure the polar climate?.
The Aleutian women wove fine grass basketry; stone and bone were also used. The Aleutians used one- and two-man skin boats, known as bidarkas, or kayaks, and sometimes large open skin boats were used. They used harpoons, micro blades, burins, bows, fish hooks, and tents to help with the fishing industry. The Aleuts hunt big sea animals cooperatively. They set up camps on ice to catch bowhead whales, and raising blue foxes was great for furnishing employment to many.
How do tradition, language, and ritual relate to and reinforce Native Peoples" ability to survive in the frozen worlds?.
Aleut society was ranked with classes of high nobles, commoners, and slaves. Leaders were recruited from the high nobles or highest elite. The ranking was reflected in the amount of living space in the longhouse and burial grounds. The animal of a hunt is shared according to certain rituals. If the hunt is successful, there is a celebration.
What are the modern-day challenges and issues that face the inhabitants of these frozen worlds?.
8,000 Aleutians left the Aleutian islands, and only 375 of the natives remain and know the ancient language of the Aleuts. The Aleutians had to face animal rights activists who thought they shouldn't hunt seals. They are now in the fishing industry because of these events. The Aleuts have to face high winds, heavy rainfall, and persistent fog in the frozen worlds.
