-In Between-One point that I especially liked was the fact that within society's norms, you either have to be male or female, and that these transsexuals were trying to fight this stereotype. Who's to say that there is only one or the other. Why can't there be an inbetween? Many of the transsexuals talked about how they were discriminated against and often physically attacked. Although many of the transsexuals did not say, it was my interpretation that most of them hurt more by what people said rather than the physical pain that they endured. Many people can not accept the fact that people choose to change their appearance because they are unhappy of who they are or because of the way they were/are being treated by others. .
Penis attachment-I was also shocked to find out that women were able to surgically add a penis. One woman, who chose to become a man actually went through with this process. She said that when she looked down, here first thought was, "Hey that's not suppose to be there?!" They also explained how the doctors surgically removed a male's penis to create a look alike vagina. They lay the penis flat on a table and split the penis in half. (I can imagine) This by far is the most painful experience that a male would ever go through (John Bobitt).
Differentiate-In the video during a skit, it was rather difficult to differentiate between who was male and who was female. The lead actress was actually a male, who surgically became a female, and is now acting (in the skit) as a male. It was a bit confusing trying to determine whether he/she was a male or female. I think that some transsexuals also do a good job hiding their real gender. There is a place in Downtown called Bethel Street. This is a notorious place for local prostitution. However there is one problem. Approximately 100% of the prostitutes are transsexuals. And the funny thing about it is that you can't even tell.
I have also seen the shows where these transexuals are coming out of the closet and informing their families on nationwide television. ... Exploiting homosexuals, transexuals, transvestites, bi-sexuals, and so on, to create a normalcy in this behavior. ...
