He can't be described with physical attributes because nobody knows what God looks like. We don't even know if the label of a male is appropriate but for the sake of this paper I refer to as "he" or "him." In order to describe God one has to use metaphors and things that God stands for. We call God father because he is the creator of the universe and everything in it. He doesn't have male sex organs or male characteristics. He made the world so we think of him as a father figure. There are many names given to God such as savoir, Lord, king, creator, master, and almighty. All of these words somehow describe what we think God is but every word has some attributes that doesn't describe God. That is why they are metaphors and we use them to try and explain characteristics of God. We can also use virtues describe who God is. Because God is basis of some virtues there is a relationship between God and the virtues so the virtues could be used to explain who God is.
Trying to pinpoint and explain God is very hard. I believe that God exists in space. Not outer space but the space around us. God is everywhere and in all of us. God is the voice in out heads that people say is your conscience, telling you right form wrong. He is anything that is good and pure. The universe exists because of God but God is not dependant on the universe. Faith helps to explain who God is. If you have faith then you believe that God exists. If something exists then it has to be able to be defined. People have different notions of who God is and it all depends on your beliefs, but he can be defined in one way or another. .
I think that if we could explain and describe who God was it would take away from the awe and respect we have for God. To be able to understand God would take away from us being mortals and make God look like a lesser being.
