Egg Drop

My egg drop container was a brown box and inside the box I had a baggy filled with air, a peanut butter jar, and bubble wrap. I first made the box 15 cm by 15 cm. After that, I laid a baggie filled with air on the bottom for support on the bottom. I put my egg in a peanut butter jar, so there would be no room for the egg to move. By putting the egg in the peanut butter jar, the space was so tight, the egg couldn't move, and therefore, couldn't break. After I put the egg in the jar, I wrapped the jar up with bubble wrap. This protected the jar and the egg so when it hit the ground, there would be some padding. I put the jar and the bubble wrap into the box, and realized there was some empty space. So, I decided to fill the empty space with more bubble wrap, and this gave it even more cushioning. Fortunately, my egg didn't break! If I were to redo this project, I'm not sure if I'd do anything differently. I might have maybe filled up some balloons half-way with oxygen, and put that around the sides of the egg and jar, so there would be some resistance of the box going down. I also might have wrapped more bubble wrap around the jar, instead of shoving it in the empty spaces. .
I thought that this was an interesting project. It made us have to think about the forces that we'd need to reduce to not have our egg drop. We also had to figure out if it would of been better to use a bigger box, with more room (more space to add stuff), or a smaller box ( less room for the egg to move). Overall, I thought that this was a neat project. .
