The Jewish Culture and how it affected Jesus

Jesus and the people of his time were greatly influenced by their religious and daily practices. Jesus like most normal children learned the trade of His father but later went on to be one of the greatest people of all time. The jobs, schooling, history of Judaism, and Jewish customs were all things Jesus lived in accordance with day by day. .
In the early A.C.E. (After Common Era) years most people had a common occupation. Fishing was both a way and a source of life. Fishing kept people employed and kept other people fed. Farming was another common job. Many farmers grew fruits like watermelon, apples, grapes, and dates. Nuts, olives, figs, wheat, onions, and barley were other common agricultural produce. Some other common jobs were carpenter, tax collector, shepherd, and merchant (Life in the time of Jesus).
Education was based on religion. Most boys of the Jewish religion ages six or seven would go to the synagogue for schooling (Ministry Server). Jewish children in Jesus" village would have also gone to the synagogue on Saturdays, which was the Sabbath (Berger 29). Children were later taught a trade by their father (Lyman 1). The trade taught to a child would usually be the same trade as the trade of their father (Ministry Server). .
Jesus" family took pride in celebrating Jewish customs. When a Jewish boys was 13 he would have a Bar Mitzvah, which made him an adult. Once the boy had a Bar Mitzvah he was responsible for his moral and religious duties. Pentecost was also a custom, but more of a holiday celebrated by Jews. Pentecost is a celebration of the seventh Sunday after Easter when the Holy Spirit came to the disciples and enabled them to speak in tongues. Jewish people took great pride in celebrating Passover which commemorates the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt.
Many families" practices were similar to those of Jesus and His families. Jesus and his parents, Joseph the carpenter and Mary the virgin, lived in Nazareth (Lyman 1).
