The Nature and Function of Education within Children's' Lite


This novel helps younger adults see the effects of war through the eyes of a child growing up with hardship and prejudice. In L. M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, education is used as a function of learning how a Prince Edward Island elderly farm couple takes care for an impetuous girl. Whereas, The Hatchet helps edify know-how, determination, and more courage than the main character possessed to survive. The overarching goal of the function of education with in these examples is to help young readers define elements of the classic children's story and their relationship to a child's development within a social context. Great books such as these employ important educational resources of the imagination in interaction with many of the real and important issues of life-concepts such as duty, freedom, work, play, fear, desire, innocence, wisdom, maturation, triumph, and defeat. Each of the children's classics has something very substantial to admire about it: qualities of style, plot, theme, and psychological insight that have made it endure and withstand the test of time of its intended understanding about the intersecting areas of children's literature and education.
             Naomi's Road discusses the Japanese's-Canadian culture as a function of historical education. Joy Kowaga's depicts is the story of Naomi, whose Japanese Canadian family is uprooted from Vancouver during the Second World War. Naomi and her brother are sent to an internment camp in the interior of British Columbia and then to a farm in Alberta. The children lose contact with both parents, and it is left to an aunt and uncle to keep the family memories and customs. The significant of education in Naomi's Road can be examined within many different contexts. .
             The perspective of Naomi and her brother throughout the story shows expression of increased amount of critical thinking and expressions of responsibility, respect, and other character traits.
