The poster explains the struggle of the first nations' against the imposition of corporations that threaten their land and their culture.
Our methodology started by a brain storming process in which we wrote down all sorts of ideas for the theme of this poster. After gathering them, we started picturing how we wanted to portray the themes. While brainstorming the images on different issues, we came up with about three good ideas, deciding ultimately to go for this final one. Our selection process was very much connected to the conference Mr ____ thought. We knew we had to convey a message, but the message had to have a structure, pieces that together, would give the audience the message we wanted to show.
Another thing we had to keep in mind is that we had to use few elements that could be seen and understood from a distance. A poster is supposed to be a "shout" in the wall, it has to attract the attention of the people that goes by. It has to have a simple message that will make people think and analyze the content of the message. A good poster will be much more complex that just a brand or a slogan, it carried a whole meaning.
The fist nations' culture, based on respect for nature and made out of nature's elements. The art was taken from a website of an artist that made a door with this elements, so we had to cut each one to scatter them around the landscape, just like the fist nations people is scattered in the land.
While the background harmonizes and is fairly homogeneous, the white roller with the white paint breaks the harmony and challenges the landscape, bringing a monotonous colour with no shades or textures or anything, just a bunch of "gray" corporations that are "imposed".
The puzzle idea responds to 2 different justifications. One is practical and the other is ideological. The first one was a solution to the printing problem. Being that the poster had to have certain measurements, those measurements were not applicable to any home printer, and taking it to a printing place would have been too expensive.
