Love metaphorically

In our society, love has been portrayed through songs, sappy chick flicks, and idiotic reality sitcoms like "Joe Millionare". Nobody in our present day culture knows what his or her own true definition of love is. Love commonly has become a word slung around by men who have the desire to fornicate, and by women who wish to live in the dream world they see on television where their "Prince Charming" take them off into the sunset. .
Love is defined as "A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness."(Dictionary.com) "Falling in love" is a common metaphor used in society and may be interpreted both negatively and positively depending on the person's definition of the word "falling". The negative interpretation of falling can be associated with falling off something and hurting oneself or something as radical as "To give in to temptation; sin." The positive interpretation can be said "to come to rest; settle" or "to be born". Therefore, falling in love can be annotated as an act of foolishness, danger, or something that consumes themselves in their partner; leaving them born into a whole new aspect of life.
The feeling of true love can only be felt by a person who has opened themselves up to it many times before, but has always had something go wrong. Maybe the person was not ready for love yet, or maybe the other person didn't have a good response when you told them you loved them. When a person has fallen in love, they are not sure of their feelings or the other person's. The true feeling of love occurs when the expression of love is shown by one mate and returned by the other. In the words of Mother Teresa, "Love is but a fruit on a tree, sweet and within the grasp of every hand.".
