Wrongly Accused

Yet another slow, dull and uneventful afternoon had passed unnoticed by the majority of the population of Enniskillen. However there was one man who seemed to have nothing better to do than to watch the hours tick slowly by. His name was Joey Wheeler and he had received a life sentence for a crime that he did not commit. Joey though had other ideas and spent most of his free time in the evenings plotting how to get out of the torment of his imprisonment in prison and prove his innocence.
It had all started just over two years ago shortly after Joey had returned from a holiday in Spain. He was wandering aimlessly down a back alleyway on a lovely warm summer day. However that all changed after he turned a corner and what he saw next changed his life forever. There was a small man with very short dark hair on the ground; he appeared to be crying about something. He was muttering words that Joey could not hear. Suddenly a man with blonde hair of about average height stepped out of the shadows. He pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the other man. Then he pulled the trigger and the other man fell in a crumpled heap. The shock led to an onrushing cascade of emotion, he felt fear, sorrow and other emotions all at once. This caused him to emit a loud gasp. The blonde haired man wheeled around and out of pure instinct Joey began to run. The other man however was too fast for him and when he caught up with Joey he threatened him with his life if he ever breathed a word to anyone else about what he had just witnessed. As he stumbled along the street to take him back to his house a severe thunderstorm commenced, which made him feel even worse.
That night while he was in bed he could not get to sleep because every time he closed his eyes the whole incident replayed over and over and the murderer seemed to get more sinister every time it replayed. So he spent the whole night tossing and turning trying to decide what he should do next.
