In many ways, one could argue that WWI was either preventable or inevitable. If we consider the leftover resentment from France after the Franco-Prussian War, the fact that the Habsburg heir line was in jeopardy and the overwhelming alliances between European powers it makes it look inevitable. On the other hand, some may argue that France's immediate response, Russia's overwhelming mobilization and Austria's aggressive ultimatum would have been avoided and therefore the war could have been prevented. However; I believe that France's resentment from the Franco-Prussian war, the threat to the Habsburg heir line and the alliances were issues that simply couldn't be left unattended. The reasons for the inevitability of the conflict were that these issues were too serious to ignore. France's resentment towards Germany was so important because the Deutsche had captured and conquered the French territories of Alsace and Lorraine during the Franco-Prussian War, thus leaving the French with an avid need for revenge. The fact that archduke Francis Ferdinand was the last of the Habsburgs was a cause for concern. His murder meant that the Habsburg empire would cease to exist and with it, arguably the most powerful country in Europe. The alliances were formed by strong countries such as Russia, Austria, France, Germany, Britain and others; all countries with a strong sense of nationalism that simply would not budge into the demands of the other nations. If we pay close attention to these conflicts we must reach the conclusion that the war could not have been prevented, it was a conflict waiting to happen. .
A wise man said: "It's not what you know, it's what you can prove". Such statement cannot be taken lightly, therefore I must prove why the war was inevitable. .
To analyze the power of the alliances created I must first talk about the countries that formed them. In Europe there were several empires that constituted an overwhelming quantity of tension and .
