Anecdote

Everyone has learned to tie their shoe laces, but some, I"m sure, caught on a little fast than others. It was around the year 1990, when I first questioned the art of tying my shoes. Now everyone knows that there are two main ways of teaching little children how to tie: the loop, swoop, and pull method or the bunny ears method. Well I took on the loop, swoop, and pull real fast like as if I were going to take right off. My mother thought it was the best thing in the world. .
Well it was time for me to start kindergarten and I though I was nothing but ready. Come to find out, I didn't know that there were two different ways to tie your shoe. So I started to make fun of this boy named Robert. I called him all sorts of names, well names that a kindergartener would say, I don't remember what I said exactly but something along the lines that he had big ears like a bunny rabbit, or whatever, while sticking our tongues out and acting all crazy and mad. We got into a big fight and had to have our mothers called into the school and talk to the teacher while we sat in the corner. .
Later on in the week, my mother explained to me that there were a couple of ways to ties your shoelaces. I didn't want to go back to school for a long time because I felt to embarrassed to see Robert again because I had called him a big fat rabbit looking boy when come to find out that was the way he learned to tie his shoes. I felt horrible. As time passed, I didn't see him as much until just the other day when I had to run back to my old high school. Guess who I ran into in the hallway? That's right, Robert, and he just looked at me, laughed, and said "who's the rabbit now." He is now tall, blonde headed, and still kind of has those dorky looking ears, but man is he cute. .
