Gandhi Movie Essay

According to Cheney, on August 12, 1858, Queen Victoria became Empress of India, and she signed the act making India part of the British Empire. There were Moslems, Sikhs, Janis, and Christians that were Indians. In the movie when Gandhi arrived he took a trip around India and tried to learn what changed in India since he left for South Africa, he could not believe his naked eyes. Every one knew Gandhi; all the Indians welcomed him back home with greetings. When Gandhi returned, the leaders of India were Mr. Patel, Azad, And Khan, and Kripalani. .
His main goals were Independence from Britain. But its results should not be violence, and there should be no harm. The plan of gaining India's Independence according to Gandhi was through not by hating or hurting but to fight injustice in India. Gandhi wrote many articles for fighting for innocents and truth. One campaign that was mentioned in the movie was about the crops. He wrote it on behalf of the farmers, who are the peasants. Its purpose was to exempt taxes for the poor and rich must pay taxes. Due to season had failed crops, people asked the government to exempt taxes. Not only Gandhi himself writing articles, but the children were writing essays about him also. That's what scared the British rulers in India. Around this time world war I ended. A city name Amristar in Punjab gathered about twenty thousand people for meeting. That meeting was called by the Indians living in the city to address the Indians. The man, woman, and children gathered up. While the meeting was going on, British General gathered up his army all around the Indians and started to fire them all. Old one trying to runs as fast as they could, mothers trying to protect their kids, some trying to climb wall, some were walked over by others when trying to get up, many wounded. That major event was called the Amristar Massacre. If the British General had been able to take the whole fire machine inside the play ground to use it against the Indians, he would have done it.
