Real World

             The Real World.
The story Hunters in the Snow, by Tobias Wolff is an awkward story about three friends who hang out together and display a weird type of friendship. Frank, Tub and Kenny are the main characters which the story takes place around. The guys" relationship consisted of constantly talking about each other, making threatening comments, and envy and hatred to a minimum. It's quoted that Wolff's work has a certain fundamental religious nature, in which this story is based around the "Golden Rule". Frank and Tub intentionally kill Kenny, because he treated them like awful so they neglected Kenny in his dying bed. This story shows the real world aspect of men doing heinous things to get back at people, in this case a friend in need.
In the beginning was the setup for the end of Kenny. While the guys" were on there way to start hunting Kenny tries to hit Tub with the truck as a way of playing. Tub feared for his life, and didn't like that act at all. Through this whole section Kenny just keeps picking with Tub by talking about his weight and saying smart comments towards Frank. Frank tells Kenny "You"re asking for it", (Wolff 114) after one of Kenny smart comments. In this instance you can see the sort of relationship these fellows have, and the envy in Frank's heart. When someone makes a statement like this I get the feeling that they have something in store for the opposing person. This gave me the first clue that Frank had wanted to do something to Kenny.
In male bonding men are self-absorbers to certain a certain extent then there actions are unpredictable. In the beginning Kenny had exposed a very sensitive side of Frank's life. Kenny also was constantly making fat jokes about Tub. Instead of solving the problem right there Frank and Tub just took the criticism and swallowed it. So while hunting Kenny got impatient about not finding any deer so he started shooting at everything he saw.
