Gays rights

For many years, gays have been fighting for the right to be treated as equal citizens. As a result of their sexual preference they have been mistreated, discriminated against, and looked down upon. In my opinion, I believe that everyone should be treated equally regardless of their sexual preference. Everyone has the right to be happy and it shoudn't be deprived of them because of their chosen lifestyle. Many people bring up the issue that it isn't morally right and it is against all religions to live that lifestyle but it isn't our job to judge these individuals. Some rights that have been denied or difficult for them to attain are the right to get a job under the same stipulations as others applying for the same job the right to have kids and the right to marry.
In the workplace, most employers don't condone or want gay individuals for many reasons. However the main reason I believe is that employers may feel that these persons will be a distraction. They may feel that it may cause other employees to feel uncomfortable and they may not work up to their ability. Or possibly this gay individual may be attracted to an employee which may cause some discomfort and hostility in the workplace. As a result of the hostility and discomfort in the workplace there could be a lack in work performance, which will result in a lack of business success. This is why I believe at interviews employers may tell these individuals that they aren't qualified enough, or they found someone more qualified to fill the position. In my opinion, I feel that gay persons are some of the hardest working individuals because they have to prove themselves to be competent more so than any other individual.
Another right that gays have been fighting for is the right to raise kids and they were denied. The community fought and protested against this right because they felt that those gay individuals may try to influence the young children to be gay.
