Love and Tragedy in Romeo and Juliet


            Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy of character in which the lovers are punished for their reckless passion. Shakespeare's" tragedy is the tale of two lovers who take their lives for each other when their love is hindered by their feuding families. The forbidding of Romeo and Juliet's love proceeds through a chronological process that eventually coerces them into the waiting arms of death in hope that they would be together peacefully in the afterlife.
