It used to be, women were respected for their voluptuous bodies, and they believed that being that way made them beautiful. Women are constantly trying to be the thinner and then the effort becomes extreme and they try to be the "thinnest." Eating disorders have caused an uproar, and at younger ages than what we have seen in the past. The N.E.D.A. presents, "Girls as young as 10 are suffering from Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa." There are many reasons girls are developing these disorders, and no one knows how to stop it from flourishing across America's children. Eating disorders have caused an uproar and the National Eating Disorder Organization observes that 1 out of every 10 girls have a disorder. Eating disorders are not a miniscule concept we can all hide from anymore, because this situation is serious and is killing girls before they get a chance to really live. Some of these people are triggered by the smallest things like a comment or picture. There are others who hear and see them for a while then they get so tired of it, they soon snap. Eating disorders have many physiological effects as well as the well known life threatening ones. These disorders are caused by many factors such as: society, parents, and criticism.
Society has put a picture in people's heads that it is perfect to be 5"8" and only weigh 105 lbs., when in actuality the "ideal" weight for 5"8" is 140 lbs. These ideas are what the girls and women are facing today, they constantly seeing the models on the runway and say to themselves "I want to look like that, I wanna be that thin or thinner." There is a current idea of weight and the way poeple look is killing girls at a distinctly young age, these girls don't understand why they aren't "that" thin. The pressure causes them to barely be able to walk down the runways or last through a photo shoot because of the lack of energy. Unfortunately this isn't what the girls watching T.
