Pro Military Draft

The form is important because it situates a person in the proper place as to the decision of who is to be drafted. Tatum and Tuchinsky suggest that "the answers to it will determine your classification and perhaps how soon you may be drafted, if at all (48)." The form establishes whether or not a candidate can even be included in the Selective Service System. For example it decides if an individual is to be excluded or not. .
The majority of individuals who enter the military enter by enlisting. There are a select few that become a part of the military by going a small number of different routes and becoming commissioned officers. An individual can also join via the National Guard or any state guard unit. The Selective Service System is the last way a person can be inducted into the military. "The only advantage of volunteering for induction is getting it over with, ending the wait to be drafted" (Tatum 103). It is imperative that every American gives back to the government for the freedoms they bask in everyday. Only small amounts of the gratitude that political leaders deserve are given acknowledgement above, but even then there are patriotic Americans that have legitimate excuses for staying out of military service. .
The Selective Service classification for students, working class, fathers, and ministers is called deferment and exemption. Student is a broad word to condense the different varieties of students exempt from the military draft. High school students, college students that receive an induction order, students in trade schools, and students in seminaries are all "students" in the United States that the Selective Service recognizes. One point is that if a citizen is ineligible for the draft for one reason than they are not to be recognizable for any other reasons. For example, being a "conscientious objector" and a "student" does not qualify them as disallowed for more than one reason (Tatum 128).
