Economy of france in the 19th Cent


             The economy of France during the 19th century did not have a great start economically. The vacillating and weak ruler Louis XVI left France under poor economic conditions during the French Revolution which occurred just years prior to the early 1800s. One of the most important issues driving the revolution was the equality of the individual before the law, which turned out to be significant because it was a decisive source of political disagreement when influenced the government for the next century. The government was as fragile as glass but time changed when the military dictator Napoleon seized power in 1799. Although, he was a marvelous ruler, he and the rest of France saw the reestablishment of weak economic precedents when the Bourbon dynasty was restored after his renouncement .

             In 1830, Louis Phillip claims power after Charles X. Louis Phillipe maintains a narrowly Liberal Regime based on laissez-faire until 1848. (McKay, 777) The Liberal Regime was a system which called for free will of private enterprise and no interference by a state in another's affairs in the economy by the government. This philosophy allowed big businesses to create a monopoly without limits, as America experienced in the early 20th century with three men named Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller and J. Pierpont Morgan who personified innovative transformations as well. The monopolization was not a wise move because of the reasons that it prevented the lower classes from moving up and it lacked social mobility.
             . France was experiencing the Industrial Revolution differently from the rest of Europe in the sense that they were recovering and adjusting from the French Revolution. With other countries going through the population changes which started out and a rapid drop in mortality saw that their population would rise quickly because of early agricultural reforms. In contrast to France, because France was affected by political instability during the late 18th to early 19th century, while other countries were having agricultural, land and textile reforms, France was embroiled in revolutions and wars, both under the ancien regime and Napoleon.
