Color of fear

An interesting movie that represents both sides of view. Considering that the movie is 10 years old, the problems do remain the same but have gotten better over time since the movie was made. Personally, I can see both sides of the story. Although I agree with the "people of color", I understand what the "whites" are saying. Both sides were bringing up good points to where they stand. A problem I had with the "people of color" was that they didn't understand where the white guy was coming from. They kept blaming him for what the "whites" have done to them. He is not the sole representative of "whites." The point he was trying to make was that he wasn't aware of the problem that the "people of color" faced on an everyday basis. From what I gathered about him, is that since he said personally that he doesn't oppress nor associates himself with people that show they do, he doesn't know that oppression is out there. You cant blame him for that, plainly he just doesn't know. Another problem I had with the "people of color" was that they all jumped on the white guy for calling them "you people" or "colored people", but later during the movie the colored people kept referring to other colored as "colored people" or "your people." If they didn't appreciate called people of color from the white guy, why would it be okay if the colored people referred to others as colored? It doesn't set a good example in the eyes of the white guy. .
A good point the white guy had was when he said, did you ever consider the spikes that are facing against you are put up by you and not the "whites." Obstacles are in everybody's life. Yes, I am sure that people of color might face more than whites do, but that's today's life. Its a lot easier to blame someone else for your failure than it is to blame yourself. Thinking the problem may just be you and not someone else is not even a consideration among people nowadays.
