             Attraction of Other Religions.
Since Australia is a multicultural society it has over 20 various religions. Each religion varies in belief, which followers worship different gods with different teachings and fulfillment in life. For instance, Muslims, who are followers of the religion Islam, preach about the oneness of Allah and the need to be absolutely surrendered to him. Furthermore, Muslims preach about the reward that the good would receive beyond death and about the punishment that would be dealt with the evil and wicked. On the other hand a Buddhist, who follows the religion of Buddhism, believes the path to human fulfillment is reincarnation and worships Buddha. It is the concept that one must go through many cycles of birth, living, and death. After many such cycles, if a person releases their attachment to desire, they can attain Nirvana, which is a state of liberation and freedom from suffering. This indicates each religion has different beliefs and may attract some people, which they would find a sense of meaning. In this circumstance, a Christian or people that do not follow a religion may switch to Buddhism as it is more modern and deals with spiritual mentality. According to the latest census figures published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there are now 199,812 Buddhists in Australia. This is an increase of nearly 60,000 from the 139,847 Buddhists recorded in the 1991 census. Buddhists now make up 1.1% of the Australian population. As a result the percentage rate of Christianity in Australia would decline due to the attraction of other religions.
