Censorship

Right now there is some sort of censorship being fought out in court at this very moment. One of the biggest problems with censorship, is the problems educational leaders come across everyday, whether or not to allow young minds to read books of certain nature. Years ago it was the opposite, trying to get young minds to explore the stories and events of the reading world. The most important problem at hand is the messages that these books are sending to our young people, giving different opinions on subjects, whereas in the past, it was forbidding. The black and white of society if fading into a grey color, different opinions are being spoken to the public and the messages could be interpreted wrongly by the young minds. Therefore parents need to step into the picture and restrict books they do not want their children to read, and not decide for the other hundreds of students in their school. Book banning should not be a form of censorship, it goes against the Constitution's First Amendment rights. .
Every book that is published in the United States must go through an inspection, which will allow or not allow the book to be sold to minors due to some sort of misleading content. Every year, individuals and groups alike demand that yet another book is removed from school libraries, as well as from particular classroom curricula. Claiming that the content is too inappropriate, these censors are wreaking havoc on students' First Amendment rights. If a parent is willing to let their child read a book that has been banned there should be no problems with that what so ever. Broderick put it in greater understanding when he said, "Censorship of books and other learning resource materials sends a mixed message to students. On the one hand, we say, read: on the other, we say but don't read this, that, or the other title" (Broderick 1). This is a very true statement, it almost gives the child an excuse not to read, because "mom" or "dad" said not to read this or that.
