The use of nuclear energy for the production of electricity is safe, economical, and doesn't hurt the environment. It is has been used for over thirty years and few incidents have occurred. One problem with nuclear energy is the radioactive waste. It is hard to dispose of. About twenty years ago there was a nuclear power plant malfunction at Three Mile Island. One of the reactor cores suffered a partial meltdown and some radioactive coolant was released into the atmosphere. This scared many people and the thought of abandonment of nuclear energy was thought of. I think that the use of nuclear energy for the production of electricity is a great idea because it's safe, economical, and is environmentally safe. The problem of disposal is a major issue, but the benefits make up for it. I like the idea of sending the waste to Yucca Mountain. I think that they should build a rail line for it to be shipped on so it is safer for the residents of Southern Nevada. .
Some people do not like the use of nuclear energy for the production of electricity. They believe accidents like Chernobyl and Three Mile Island will happen again. The people that don't like the use of nuclear energy for the production of electricity think that the disposal problem is major. They support other ideas like solar energy and hydroelectric energy. These ideas are great, but we have already invested the money and have facilities built for the production of nuclear energy for electricity. Nuclear energy is a quick and easy way to get electricity. The people that are afraid of nuclear energy will get over there thoughts in a few years when a new idea comes along. People were afraid of the use of natural gas, automobiles, airplanes, and trains. They all got over it and now everyone uses them and it is a great source of transportation, heat, etc. .
I support the use of nuclear energy for the production of electricity because it is safe and anti-supporters have falsely shown the use of nuclear energy.
