Leopold Von Ranke

Leopold Von Ranke was a German Historian who is recognized as the father of the modern objective historical school. Ranke wanted to reconstruct the periods of the past as they actually were and tried to stay away from infusing stories of the past times. Writing history "as it actually was" was good advice given to historians by Leopold Von Ranke but is almost nearly impossible to accomplish because there are too many different perspectives and opinions in cultures that exist today. With these different views the facts of history are going to vary from person to person, which does not allow historians to write it as it actually was. One person may look at a subject on a completely different level then another person would, altering the way the topic is viewed.
It's a good idea for historians to try and write history correctly and as it actually was. Historians need to analyze the evidence and facts of their subject in order to understand everything that is going on. If they did not evaluate the facts correctly historians in the future would need to go back and reevaluate the subject and make historical revisions. But even when a great historian evaluates historical evidence the historian will still not be able to write how it actually was because she/he has there own perspective of the subject which is different then everyone else's view. For instance the views of Feminists, Sima Qian, Griot, and Herodotus are all different. .
Feminists want to have history show the social change and liberations of women throughout history, while combining men so each gender has an equal share. Instead of having things like Enclyopedias focusing on men and there accomplishments Feminists want to be included and show their improvements as well. Not only do Feminists want there improvements to be included but also their roles and how they were treated compared to men. Another example of different perspectives is Sima Qian.
