Sibling Rivalry, Rivalry From Within

            Did you ever ponder the concept that maybe you were the "Cinderella" of the family? Did you know that sibling rivalry stems from within one child not necessarily the interaction between two siblings? Every individual ranging from child to adult knows the tale of "Cinderella", her misfortunate childhood and the overwhelming victory that seals the fait to the happy ending of this ferry tale. The well established and pronounced author/psychologist Bruno Bettleheim proves how sibling rivalry can be traced solely back to the emotional nature and well being of a child simply through the relevance of the notorious fable, "Cinderella". Bettleheim believes that sibling rivalry is a universal as well as natural sense that can have both positive and negative consequences in the lives of children. I agree completely with Mr. Bettleheim in the sense that sibling rivalry has many attributed underlying causes besides just having siblings and the story of "Cinderella" does an excellent job displaying some of these hidden truths. .
             In order to go deeper into the psyche of a child experiencing sibling rivalry you have to comprehend all the hidden truths in the tale of "Cinderella". Cinderella is a sister of many siblings and in her eyes she is the insignificant child of the family that can't seem to surpass the quality attributes of her sisters. She is constantly slaving through countless hours of manual labor simply to attain the eye of approval from her parents, but sadly her shortcomings are a constant. Often times children tend to exaggerate the emotions that are aroused in a case of sibling rivalry even when the child knows in reality that the circumstances are not as harsh as they appear. Cinderella is constantly enduring sibling rivalry, reflecting how she feels about her parents and their debased opinion of her. A child plagued by sibling rivalry is also continuously haunted by their feelings of insignificance to their parental figures.
