When American Soldiers came home from World War II, they came home to a society that was trying to make the rocky transition from a war time society back into a peace time society. They came back home to a society where jobs were more and more scarce with the ending of the war, and America's lower and middle had become stagnant and poverty stricken. Since most people had saved up while they had jobs, there was now "too many dollars, chasing too few goods" which caused inflation, since the US had be transformed in the "war time society" most consumer goods had stopped being produced.
In order to advert an economic crisis, congress passed the "servicemen's readjustment act of 1944", other wise known as the GI Bill. The passing of this bill helped Veterans and their families significantly. The passing of the GI Bill helped in Three ways.
The first thing the GI bill helped with was housing. When GI"S returned home from WW2, housing opportunities were scarce as well. The GI bill allowed the Department of Veterans Affairs the authority to guarantee a veteran's loan with no down payment or insurance premium requirements. This allowed people to buy and build more .

homes than ever before. This not only created a huge boom in homeownership, but created a small employment boom as well. .
The second thing the GI BILL helped with was hospitals and medical care. Many soldiers came home from the war w=in need of medical attention and care. Wither it be from a bullet wound, dehydration, mental fatigue or other mental condition, the veterans still needed medical assistance to cover their bills. They created military hospitals that were run by the Veterans Administration. This allowed veterans and their families to be cared for by military hospitals at all times.
The third thing and most important thing the GI BILL did for the veterans and their families. Was the assistance in educational programs. Veterans would have a chance to attend colleges for free.
