             When a parent home schools they can personalize the courses they are studying or use a personalized approach to teaching the child or children traditional materials. Since the child teacher ratio would be smaller in a home schooling situation than in a public school the parent can learn what learning techniques work best for their children and can then use that approach in the future. In the public schools a teacher must teach in a way that is the best for most students where in a home schooling situation the parent is solely devoted to teaching one or two children instead of more than 20 students in a classroom.              As in many situations parents can never guarantee that nothing will happen to them or their children. But if parents home school their children they will have a greater control of the environment in which their children are placed. There has been in increasing occurrences of violence taking place in public schools and the acts have been directed toward peers of the child who is committing the act of violence. This is not normally an issue in a home schooling environment because the parent and child are spending a large amount of time together and the parents are capable of noticing a change in the child's personality and could help the child learn to vent his anger in a more appropriate manor. Where in a public school the teachers and staff are responsible for many children and do not have the one on one relationship needed to catch the change in the child until it is to late.              "Home schooled children, who have chalked up impressive academic achievements, grow up to be civically involved, politically active adults," according to a new report. (IEE a, 1) Since the parents spend a lot of one on one time with the child the child and receive many other benefits including learning not only from the parent but also about the parent, learning things such as what the parent likes to do and how the parent feels about things that are going on the world.
