The disorder I chose is type 1 diabetes. My disorder is one that affects the inflicted parties pancreas, making it unable to produce insulin. The body turns upon the islet cells in the pancreas, destroying or reducing their number so low that they are unable to produce a working amount of insulin.
The symptoms of the disorder is an inability for the body to properly break down sugar. Also one would regurgitate any large amounts of sugar that enter the stomach while the body is still busy trying to break down the sugar in there from before. Sugar in the urine is also another symptom, it was once diagnosed by having the said patient urinate on a brick to see if ants would gather to collect the sugar. Along with the disease those living with it also have to watch out for hypoglycemia, restricted blood flow, damage to the eyes, and stunted growth.

Type 1 diabetes is normally considered a children's disease but has been known to develop in people at any age. It affects both male and females, and of the two types it is the rarest. Out of 16 million people in the US with diabetes, only 5-10 percent have type 1. People with type 1, normally died within a year up until the use of pig insulin was put into practice. A person infected with diabetes is unable to naturally break down sugar from food and drink that is ingested. They also risk kidney failure, going into shock from too little, or to much sugar into the blood. Eye damage from restricted blood flow, and arthritis. Hypoglycemia is a big risk for someone with type 1 diabetes, they risk going into shock from too much or too little sugar intake.
Currently there are few treatments for diabetes, one would be a pancreas transplant. This only works in someone with type 1 diabetes and even at that success rate is low. A person with type 1 diabetes must inject insulin into their arm before each meal, the amount depending on how high their blood sugar is before they eat.
