Beloved

If Sethe were to die how could the rest of the book come into place? Sethe held on long enough to get help and give birth to her daughter Denver. Another impressive incident is when Sethe kills her own flesh and blood. Sethe saw that the schoolteacher and a slave catcher were coming to take her and her children away so Sethe acted on it right away. Sethe cut the throat of who is now known as (beloved) and her two sons Buglar and Howard. She then was going to bash Denver's brains out against the wall. Beloved was already dead and before she could kill Denver, Stamp Paid rushed over and stole Denver from Sethe's arms before she could kill her. The two boys were still alive and were taken by Baby Suggs and nursed back to health. She loved her children so much that she wouldn't allow them to suffer in slavery as she did.
There has been a movie made based on this novel. I have not seen it, but I think it would make a great movie. The movie Beloved was rated four stars and was said to be a powerful, elegant, harrowing, yet mysterious film that is truly important. (Entertainment movies) This movie would let people of our generation see what slavery was like for people of color. It may help us to be less prejudice and more understanding of people who are different from ourselves.
There are many themes that you choose from this book. For instance, dealing with the past, slavery, and mother-daughter relationships. Of these themes, I can mostly relate to the mother-daughter relationship. There is a quote that I think symbolizes the love between Sethe and beloved, "Beloved could not keep her eyes off of Sethe." This quote shows me that there is nothing that can replace or imitate the mother-daughter relationship. The whole novel was about helping Sethe deal with and try to recover from the murder-sacrifice for her daughter. I learned to respect and savor every moment with my mother.
