In the third soliloquy of Hamlet, Hamlet discusses whether life is worth living or not. He is not sure which is better, death or life. All the pain he feels inside are from all the problems he has or had. Some of those problems were love being rejected. Ophelia has rejected Hamlet's love for her, which makes him depressed. Also, how his mother, the queen, remarried only a few months after the death of her husband to her brother-in-law. Hamlet does not understand why she did this, and he thinks she should still be grieving. Due to all of these problems he had, he felt that life should not be worth living and thought about committing suicide. "But the dread of something after death, the undiscovered country, from whose bourn no traveler returns," (III, 1, L. 78-80, p. 124). Hamlet said that there is an after life in which who ever goes does not return. Such as when a person dies he does not return to life again. There are very, very few people who, in life today, actually do die for a few minutes or seconds but returns to life. .
I think our conscience does have plenty to do with our decisions we make in our lives. There are many people in the world whose consciences tell them to commit suicide or to decide whether to live or die. Sometimes our conscience makes us scared to take chances or risks. By taking chances is to make your life better or to do things you want in life. I think life is worth living, especially now. There are many opportunities people have to make a difference in their life and not everyone takes those chances. For example, someone is offered an amazing job that they qualify for and can make their life better. But that person does not take it because their conscience is telling them, they will not succeed. Consciences, many times, does hold you back from taking the chances you should take and not everyone should listen to their conscience if that risk is something good. .
