How's it going nigga! Is that not the most offensive term that any person could be called, regardless of your skin color? That word has no other purpose but to insult or hurt. Yet it is used within black communities and is deemed acceptable. If I threw that one out there in greeting a black friend, I am sure we wouldn't remain friends for very long. .
I am going to take another stab in the dark and say that most black folks have never been to Africa. I bet most couldn't tell you which part of Africa their ancestors are from. Kudos if you can. I have no plans to start calling myself "European-American" because my family tree has roots that extend into France. We are all Americans. Just plain Americans. Again, it is all about titles and not wanting to hurt someone's feeling.
Let's not forget about the "Native Americans". I know there is a movement out there to change all the names of sports franchises that have the suggestion of "Indian" in its title. That would mean that in professional baseball the Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves would have to find new names. In the National Football league you have The Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins. In Hockey you have the Chicago Blackhawks. The list is endless if you figure in all the High School and College mascots. Let's just imagine for a moment a newpaper headline from Superbowl XL. .
