Coyote have numerous factors that make them comical to the viewer. Watching these cartoons is an escape from reality, the characters actions and the characters themselves are extremely unrealistic, which makes the cartoons even more interesting and humorous. Although, cartoons are made for children, they can be humorous for adults. .
The major factor that makes both Sponge Bob and the Wile E. Coyote cartoons funny is the characters themselves. There is no such thing as walking sponges who wear white underwear, or coyotes that will chase a road runner for days, never catch it, and get hurt every time while trying. The whole Sponge Bob cartoon is funny because the same kind of yellow sponge that is in my sink is walking and talking on the ocean floor. Its funny how things that would never be real, such as sponges, are given humanlike characteristics. Sponge Bob and most of the other characters in the cartoon can walk, talk, eat, drink, and even swim, just like humans do. In the Coyote cartoon, the Coyote was given some human like characteristics, but the road runner doesn't have any. Even with human characteristics the Coyote still isn't able to catch the Road Runner. This makes the cartoon funny because the Coyote tries to out smart the Road Runner, but in the end the Road Runner outsmarts him. Mostly every character in the cartoons can think and reason like a normal person, but it's funny because each character has its own intelligence level, some are depicted as smart, such as the Road Runner and Sponge Bob, and some are depicted as stupid, such as the coyote. If these characters were not given these characteristics, the cartoon would not be as interesting, or nearly as humorous. .
In both the Coyote and Sponge Bob cartoon violence and pain is humorous because the viewer knows that in a couple of seconds the character will be healed. Sponge Bob and the coyote get hurt almost every episode and they always heal back with no problem in a matter of seconds.
