They lived in a nice city and were friendly people. They lived in a house that eventually burns down. They lived there sometime in the past. The house was very beautiful and it had a fireplace and it was cozy. I would have liked to live there before the surroundings went downhill.
Having a heart-filled wife and an alcoholic for a husband would not turn out very good. The male narrator at one time he was nice but now he has a drinking problem. Pluto, who is the cat, was all black and very friendly. The wife was very sincere and was always mentioned to be kind-hearted. I would identify more with the cat than anything would.
When on a rampage, people may get hurt. The narrator started to go insane from drinking. He became very unhappy and dangerous. Pluto started to take after the narrator. One day the narrator took out a pocketknife and gouged out one of Pluto's eyeballs. This was a very selfish act.
Drinking, guilt, and hatred are some of the things that the narrator had faced during the story. The drinking is the worst part of the book because it causes the narrator to kill an animal. Guilt would be the next biggest one because it leads the narrator to kill his own wife, who was to save the cat. The hatred that is in the story is unbelievable. The narrator hates himself for everything he has done. Everyone may have these problems but they can lead to damage.
Many things do come back and haunt people. After gauging out the cats" eye, the next day the narrator goes and hangs the cat from the tree in the back yard. The night, after the hanging, the narrator is woken up by the cries of fire. The whole house was up in flames. The narrator went back to see the house after the fire was gone. The house was destroyed and there was an imprint of the cat on the only standing wall left in the house. The narrator then saw a crowd coming to form around the wall. The narrator saw that there was a rope around the cats" neck.
