Imagine being in a school with more metal detectors than computers, more security personnel than teachers, and a classroom with more students than desks available. Many students face these problems everyday in our public schools. School Vouchers should be instituted throughout the United States of America because every student, regardless of economic standing, should have the opportunity for the best education possible, many public school systems are substandard, and students would be better prepared for college and life if they are allowed to attend private schools. .
Because of financial hardships, many families are unable to send their kids to expensive, high-class private schools. Unfortunately, for these children, most public schools in low-income areas are second-rate compared to private schools that wealthy families can afford. Our country was founded on equality. It is the government's responsibility to be able to offer every child a good education. According to S.V. Date's article in the Palm Beach Post, "half of the nearly 3 million Florida school-age children are eligible to receive voucher, and there is no requirement that the child had to have attended a failing public school". This shows that vouchers are a way to let poor children escape bad public schools, as half of the students in Florida are able to receive vouchers. Vouchers must be instituted nationwide so that financially challenged kids everywhere are able to receive aid. The Florida voucher program is just beginning and has its faults, like most trial programs. Imagine if the Federal Government had disbanded NASA after its early failures. However, it is important to focus on the positives, like the 1.5 million children who are now able to receive a top quality education. The success in Florida makes it much more viable for other states to follow. "Having a state like Florida certainly makes it more feasible to do it in other state," says David Salisbury, a researcher at the Cato Institute.
