Sexual harassment means the behavior that constitutes unwelcome sexual advances. This behavior could come in the form of verbal or physical abuse or unwelcome requests for sexual favors. The behavior may involve people of the opposite sex, same sex, supervisor to employee, student-to-student, employee to employee, teacher to student, etc. My story on sexual harassment will be crystal clear. I believe that sexual harassment is wrong, ethically and morally. I believe it is wrong from the point of view of discipline. And I believe it is wrong from point of view of maintaining proper respect in the chain of command. And for all of these reasons therefore, I have a zero acceptance for sexual harassment.
Let me just share my experiment of sexual harassment On May 23, 1996 Nell, the female head of my department at charged me with behavior that "would be construed as sexual harassment." Without warning, time to go over my own memories and records and prepare a defense, or a careful investigation and examination of the facts, she revoked a promotion it had taken me three years to earn, a advancement that would not have given me any power over the woman whom I allegedly harassed, along with a hefty increase in salary and provide options. And she put me on permanent probation.
All the warning I had was when she asked my supervisor and me to meet with her to discuss certain of my "behaviors" that had come to her attention. As she had just announced I was to be promoted soon, there were many things she might wish to discuss in preparation for that. At the meeting, however, she had nothing good to say. Instead, she charged me with three things: (1) Presenting unauthorized and unprofessional credentials and contradicting her official stance on our department's mission, (2) passing inaccurate information regarding the pay status of a co-worker, and (3) behavior that would be construed as sexual harassment.
