Just because the outer image of someone's home, and someone's .
personal appearance is not what you expect, it does not mean they are unfortunate or .
unattractive because "you can't always judge a book by its cover." In the case of my .
dear friend from the Bronx, she decided to move out of her apartment of so many years .
so her daughter and her husband can live together and raise their family. The new area .
she moved to was really not so bad, but the building was disgusting. There was trash all .
inside, the floors seemed to have never been mopped, there was writings on the walls, .
and the elevator smelled of urine. I felt reluctant to even proceed past the front doors, .
but once I surpassed the feeling of disgust; I got to her apartment only to find that .
there was truly an oasis in the middle of all this negativity. Her apartment appeared to .
have come directly out of trading spaces episode, with a Peruvian theme in her bedroom, .
and safari look to her living room. I felt I was on vacation. Another instance was when I .
met my husband for the first time. He was very attractive, and dressed well, however, he .
is short in stature, which made me feel a bit reluctant to move forward with the .
relationship. He turned out to be the most loving man in this world. As our relationship .
grew, he gave me everything I ever wanted. He definitely conformed to the saying .
"Great things come in small packages." Finally we have Greg, a good friend of my .
husband. When I first met him he seemed to be a stand up type of man, decent looking, .
clean-shaven, well spoken, and very intelligent. As time progressed, his mind and body .
began to metamorphosize into something we were not use to. His addiction to painkillers .
and cigarettes were taking a toll on his body. He became a liar, a thief, and someone we .
couldn't count on. These changes were brought on by his self- destruction and alienation .
from his job and family.
