SHOULD FRANKENSTEIN HAVE CREATED A MATE FOR HIS MONSTER?

Victor Frankenstein made a mistake in deciding not to create a mate for his creation.
By creating a mate, the original creation would be pacified; thus ending the murders of Victors loved ones. Like Rousseau preached, the creation was "born" as a good creature but because of societies reaction towards him, he turned evil. To unleash his wrath, he took revenge on his creator: "If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear; and chiefly towards you my archenemy". Had Victor created a mate for the monster, the creation would once again be happy and his rampage of murders would cease:.

I demand a creature of another sex the gratification is small but it shall content me. It is true that we shall be monsters but on that account we shall be attached to one another. Our lives will not be happy, but they will be harmless and free of the misery I now feel (chapter 17).
Victor received the orders and clearly understood them. Had he created a mate, the monster would have banished to a far away land: "If you consent [to create a mate], neither you nor any other human being shall ever see us again" (page 155). Had Victor created the mate, the monster would have gone onto living a "harmless" life free of his "misery" and the lives of Victor's dear friends and family would have been spared. It was his arrogance and stubbornness however that got the best of him and led him to decide against creating the monster. .
Had Victor created the mate, the monster would no longer be lonely or depressed. The monster is suffering; he needs a mate because he needs someone who will accept him for what he is and not what he looks like on the exterior. He tries countless attempts to communicate with people such as Victor and the De Lacy family but he is shunned away. Each failure makes him realize that only one thing can help him climb out of his depression and state of loneliness: "[Victor must create] A female for me, whom I can love with and interchange those sympathies necessary for my being" (Chapter 17 page 153).
