Raisin in the sun

Beneatha is a very independent person in which she is very prideful of. Her and Asagai get into many spats with this because she is not wanting to marry and to dependent on not wanting to leave America. When her father passes away, she realizes then that she wants to be a doctor. That is her dream that she wants to accomplish in her life. .
             Walter is another important character in the play. Without Walters schemes the play would not have been near as interesting as it was. Walter is also MaMa's son and the husband of Ruth, the father of Travis and of course Beneatha's brother. This play revolves around each and every action that he takes and his character is one that evolves the most during the course of the play. Most of his mistakes hurt the family a great deal but he does turn his self around and sort of becomes a hero at the end. Walter is the typical African-American male that struggles to support the family and who tries to discover new and better schemes to secure their prosperity. The barriers and the difficulties that are constantly sprouting up to obstruct his progress to obtain the prosperity frustrate Walter. He believes that money will solve all of his problems but unfortunately he is not very good with it. He is usually fighting with Ruth, MaMa, or Beneatha. Walter's ultimate dream is to have all of this money. But at the end of the play his dream kinds of matures and takes a twist. After listening to MaMa and Ruth express their dreams of owning their own house, he realizes that buying the house is more important for the families welfare than .
             getting rich quick. .
             MaMa is Walter and Beneatha's sensitive mother and the head of the Younger household. She also wants the apartment to be spotless and is also one to stand up for her beliefs. Dreams are more important to her than material wealth, and her dream to own a house with a garden and yard in which Travis can play.
