Jefferson

Many questionable events happened in the making of the history of the United States of America. Whether these events, such as the relocation and treatment of Native Americans or the forced slavery of African Americans, were right or wrong, they played important roles in shaping today's most powerful country. During a time of revolution and independence, the leading men, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, and James Madison, all helped to influence a young country which stressed freedom and liberty for all. Yet controversy arises when people read the words " all men are created equal;- and remember that it was written in a time when all men were not treated the same (Wilkins 2). Some are quick to call America's founding fathers hypocrites, yet that would not be fair. Washington, Jefferson, Mason, and Madison all were alive during a difficult time, when cultures were changing, and they were socialized to believe in certain things; all of which made them who they were and explains a little about America's past. .
Every person in the entire world is socialized at a young age. Socialization is the process in which people acquire the behaviors and beliefs of the culture in which they live (Arnett 100). During this process, people learn things like what is right or wrong, what is real or fake, who is powerful and who is weak. People also learn the values and beliefs of their culture. Just like everyone else, at one point in time, the past political leaders also went through the processes of socialization in which they were taught the values and believes of both the Europeans and the new colonies. .
From their European heritage, people of the revolutionary era were brought up to believe in the importance of civilization, Christianity, making profits, and the superiority that came along with having white skin.
