Health care standards were never high, and medical equipment was often outdated in clinics and hospitals throughout the country. The 1990s brought change to several sectors, including medicine. After World War II, new railroads, highways and airports were built. A well developed system of highways and public transportation, and increasing number of people who own cars, have caused tourism in Czech Republic to increase dramatically.
