Semblance of Macbeth

The false impression of purity often hides a fraudulent truth. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Inverness Castle hides the truth of the corruption that really exists among them; Macbeth's illusion of a loyal hero fades as the play progresses into the ruthless killer he was. Lady Macbeth acted as Macbeth's encouragement urging him to go on with the murders and casing up for him as well. Illusion of incorruptibility upon all three of these aspects puts forth upon everything a fraudulent reality. .
Inverness Castle seems pleasant from the outside but inside hides a corrupt reality. As Duncan arrives at Inverness Castle it is described to "hath a pleasant seat" (I.vi.1). Duncan comes through Inverness Castle thinking it as a place of loyalty fit for true kings. The delicate air and nimble appearance of Inverness Castle leads Duncan away from truly realizing the corruption behind the walls. The corruption roaming around inside Inverness Castle creates a great disruption among all present inside of it. After Macbeth commits his first murder, he frantically panics while yelling "murder" (II.ii.33) to Lady Macbeth. As Duncan goes to sleep Lady Macbeth and Macbeth plan on his assassination. Behind the corrupt walls of Inverness Castle lays a terrible mischief. The Porter sitting at the doors of the Castle refers to himself as a porter "of hell gate" (II.iii.2). The doors of the Castle are referred to as the gates to hell because of what goes on behind the walls. The Porter jokes around about being the Doorman at the gates of hell, wondering what kind of sinners wonder in. .
Lady Macbeth isn't just a queen, but she is the queen of falseness and illusion. Lady Macbeth actually advises her husband to look like an "innocent flower" (I.vi.73) but to really be "the serpent under't" (I.vi.74). Lady Macbeth has a strategy; she generally plots and plans what is going to be done. Her screen of illusion upon the others is very strong, she makes herself seem so innocent but under the skin she as evil as a human being can be.
