Police Ethics

Every police officer works long hours and works the worst shifts, most of them think they deserve a little more money. They think to themselves just this once and no one will know. So the police officer makes a deal with the law breaker. For the police officer letting the criminal go he gets money, then for letting the criminal continue to sell drugs the police officer gets information from him like when a big sale is going to happen or when a big load is going to come in and so on. The police officer still thinks as himself as good police officer. Not because he is getting money and information but because for letting one criminal go he is busting a lot of others. Is this ethical? Is this the way law enforcement should be done? Of course not in this situation the police officer is giving someone like a drug dealer all the power. The drug dealer then starts getting more drugs and selling more to the peoples friends who he ratted out which means he is making more money but still paying the police officer the same. This is how drug dealers become drug lords because of police officers who to them ethically they are doing the right thing because they are making more arrests which makes them think they are cleaning up the streets.
             Most police officers really do have good ethics and they come into the job with the best intensions. But imagine everyday dealing with people who are in bad moods. Not because they had a bad day but it is because of the police officer himself. Not only everyday is this person putting people in bad moods but he sees things that other normal people don't see. A police officer sees dead bodies at murder scenes, he has to talk to rape victims, and he has to hear people lie to him all the time. Now for most people a job description like that will make them not want to become a police officer. I have found out from this class that I don't think it is something that I want to do.
