Guided Comparison Observation

On a windy Saturday evening I observed my two nephews of age four and eight. The four-year-old obi is a male who is very tall and thin for his age. Right knows he is in preschool in Pennsylvania. He has dirty blonde hair and hazel green eyes. He loves basketball and enjoys being out doors. The eight years old Jets is also a male very tall for his age but is big built. Right now Jet is finishing the second grade also in Pennsylvania. He loves football but also enjoys playing video games and reading.
In this paper I will be talking about the kid's physical development such as gross and fine motor skills and will be including a drawing. Also I will talk about cognitive development whose is different stages concrete operational and proportional. In cognitive development we will see many skills such as classification conservation and more. And finally I will talk about thee child's psychosocial development, which is Erikson's stage, which they are at. The first one I will talk about is physical development.
             Physical Development.
Physical development is the physical appearance or the ability to do things (Elkind.d, 1994,pg. 90). Physical development includes such things as gross motor skills and fine motor skills.
Gross motor skills involve muscles in the arms, legs, and torso. While observing obi and jets I asked them to do several of these skills such as jump, skip, throw, run, and hop. We were playing the game Simon says and I asked them both to jump obi the four years olds jump was very low to the floor as were Jets was higher and more balanced. The reason why is because at four years old they still are growing fast and going through physical growth (Brazelton, B, 2001). .
Then I made them skip obi did not know how to skip he was jumping on two feet but Jets did it perfectly with perfect balance. And then we tried hopping obi was not able to hop on one foot because of his balance but once again Jet did it on one foot and no problem with the balance.
