23 days of fear the movie was called, the movie was reenacting one man and one boy's control of people in and surrounding D.C. lives. Between the dates Oct. 2nd and Oct 24th John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo shot off a high caliber .223 Bushmaster rifle 14 times.
John Allen Muhammad is 41 years old and is a Gulf War Veteran. He aided his own capture by calling a task force hotline and he boasted of a past murder in Montgomery, Alabama. He had a criminal record for beating his kids and wife. One of his former neighbors in Tacoma, Washington said that Muhammad had showed him the sniper rifle a few years back.
John Lee Malvo is a Jamaican and is 17 years old. He is illegally in the United States, his finger prints match those on file from a September 21 fatal liquor store shooting. A letter left at the Ponderosa shooting appears to include Jamaican colloquialism, as well as a drawing with five stars that may represent a Jamaican band.
At 5:20 PM on Oct. 2nd the first shot rang out, through a local Michaels store window, no one was hurt in the shooting no one thought twice about the shooting either. Only 44 minutes later James D. Martin was crossing a parking lot in the Food Warehouse and was the first victim of the sniper. Muhammad got an early start the next day starting the bloodiest of the 23 days. At 7:41 AM, 8:12 AM, 8:37 AM and 9:58 AM he killed 4 people ranging of all ages, sex, and race. He added one more at 9:20 PM, a 72-year-old male killed while crossing the street. Even more baffling is that all the murders took place in a 3-mile radius. The next day Oct. 4th, the two snipers went back to the scene of the first shooting (Michaels) and made their first mistake, when they fired off there weapon though they hit a white female that's 43 years old, they hit her in the back. That means she survived and was in stable condition. He took the next 2 days off and was back at it on Oct. 7th 8:08 AM.
A major breach of ethics that made it's way into the public view was in May of 2002, when a writer for the New York Times, Jayson Blair, fabricated or plagiarized parts of 36 out of 73 stories. He took information from other newspapers, and wire services. He was finally publicly exposed when he wr...
