Suicide is defined as the act of intentionally killing oneself. The third leading cause of death in teenagers between 15 and 24 years old, and the eighth leading cause of death in all Americans. No matter the race, age or how rich or poor a person is, it is accurate that most people who commit suicide have some kind of mental or emotional disorder. The most common disorder is depression, 30% to 70% of all suicidal people suffer from major depression or bipolar disorder, better know as manic depression.
There are many circumstances that can contribute to someone's decision to end their life, but a person's feelings about those circumstances are more important than the circumstances themselves. All people who consider suicide feel that life is unbearable. They have an extreme sense of hopelessness, helplessness, and desperation. With some types of mental illness, people may hear voices or have delusions that prompt them to kill themselves. One who talks about committing suicide or makes an attempt do not necessarily want to die. Often, they are reaching out for help. Sometimes, a suicide attempt becomes the turning point in a person's life if there is enough support to help them make necessary changes.
There are many ways to indicate when someone is wanting to commit suicide. Most people will tell you they"re not happy or they are thinking about committing suicide. A person will give the point that they want to kill themselves without giving any physical indications. It is impossible to know for sure that a person who seems sad.
is at risk of being suicidal. Nobody can predict how another person is going to react to situations that are difficult to handle. When dealing with depression it is difficult to realize where sad feelings end and the risk's factors begin. This does not mean that you need to take their depression onto yourself, it means that you need to let someone else know that they are likely to do something to hurt themselves and be there for that person.
