A day in the park


            A quiet day in the park was all Julian could think of as she tidied up her desk. It seemed that mountains of paperwork had hurled at her for months. The vacations she had planned had somehow never developed. Julian knew she somehow had to make the time to get away from the office. Making the plans was even difficult for her. She had experience with the fact that anything planned could and would be postponed. The cell phone attached to her hip was a verifier of this fact. Julian thought of her tiny, noisy wonder of technology as a cell mate. She never could leave it and she had to talk to it. Oh, the days when life was exciting. What had her life turned in to? A busy, overworked mess enveloped in her tall statue. Her life was no longer hers. There had to be a change, something new, an adventure that would release her from the mundane. She quietly shut the door behind her and crept out of the office hoping no one spotted her leaving. Julian took the fresh air in and began to walk to the park. The sun was high in the sky and warming her face. The wind blew just enough to make a nice breeze. If only she could have more time like this to reflect. As she approached the park, she noticed a swirl of color. The most beautiful butterflies in all shades of the pallet danced in the entrance. Spring had sprung and the day felt right as rain. Finally, she felt relief from the stress. .
